On Saturday June 1st Janet and Don Legere did another free webcast full of amazing list building tips and tricks so I thought I would follow up on that with a few ways to build a contact list.
When you’re new to online marketing everything seems to be such a mystery. Everywhere we look we see “If you do this simple thing you’re going to be rich by tomorrow”! Sound familiar? Our inbox is full of messages every day promising us the world for little or no effort.
Guess what? Anything worthwhile takes work so stick by that old rule that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is, (especially on the internet)!

If today was “Day 1” of my internet marketing career, (especially looking back and knowing what I know now), I would be looking for ways to build a contact list.
I am coming to you with more than 15 years experience now and what I am looking for…still? Ways to build a contact list!
“The money’s in the list”, “It’s all in the list”, and “the fortunes in the follow up” are things you should be hearing when it comes to success on the internet. It all boils down to the same thing – the ability to build your Email contact list. This happens to be “Step 4” in the Contact List Builder 5 Step Success Blueprint.
Let’s take a look at a few list building tips and things we should be doing to accomplish this ever important task online. Here are a few of the best ways:

  2. Traffic Exchanges
  3. Social Media Marketing
  4. Solo Ads

Let’s define and expand on the ways to build a contact list from above.

  • Safelists

Safelists are about what they sound like. “Safe” lists.
People give you permission to Email them about your business opportunity in exchange for you giving them permission to email you about theirs.
I realize that this may not make sense, but the people that take the time to learn “how” this works has an advantage over the others, and to be honest, safelists work extremely well. Safelists were one of the first things that I found that actually allowed Jana and I to start off on the road to success, after learning how to use them right.

  • Traffic Exchanges

Traffic Exchanges aren’t something that I have used as much as I should, but I do see how and why they are so successful. People get credits for “surfing” websites. This means taking a look at them and staying on the website for “X” amount of time.
Again it is the people that learn the “ins and outs” of how to set up their lead capture page that will have the most success. Traffic exchanges are one of the better ways to build a contact list.

  • Social Media Marketing

Anyone that takes the word “Marketing” out of Social Media Marketing, and focus on the “Social” part of thing will be doing well for themselves.
Social websites like Facebook are an excellent place to find people that will be interested in something that you have to offer. The thing is never, ever, advertise to them.
We should “socialize” with people there and get to know them. At that time, after the relationship has been started you will find out that you have something that could help your new friend and then you can mention whatever it may be that you have. (Contact List Builder perhaps)…lol!

  • Solo Ads

Solo ads work well too. What happens with a solo ad is you pay someone to send your message out to their contact list. If you have a list of your own, you can email your list about someone else’s program in exchange for them mailing theirs about yours.
So I suppose Solo ads could fit in with “swapping” ads with people you know online. Although they are different than “Ad swapping”, it could be worked out to be a Solo Ad without money changing hands, if your list were about the same size as the persons that you worked out a deal with.

  • Video Creation

Putting yourself in front of a camera may be scary, but after a while you do get used to it and it is another one of the great ways to build a contact list.
If you put yourself in front of the recorder on your computer, you are miles ahead of other people that are new to the internet. And imagine doing this and sharing some of the tips and tricks that you learned at one of the webcasts that you see the crew over at CLB do.
Janet, Don, Steve, Rob, Doc and the rest of the crew are full of amazing list building tips from decades worth of experience. If you learn things from them and then pass it on in a video, there will be many people that will see you as a bit of an expert. You already know more than them as for ways to build a contact list.
