My Nightmare Car Rental

Hello Fellow Travelers,

About a year ago my wife and I made a trip from our home in Minnesota to Austin Texas to visit my Daughter, her husband and our new grandson who at the time was 3 months old.

Both of our vehicles are old and have lots of miles so we decided to rent a car for the trip. The trip to Texas came off without a hitch. The car we rented was good. I am a big guy, so my only complaint was that the cockpit was a little small for me and my knees rubbed the sides.

The day before we left my Wife and Son-in-Law went to the store to pick up a few items for our trip home. About an hour later I got a call from my wife and she told me we had a flat tire. So my daughter gave me a ride to the store they went to to wait with her for the tow truck to come to fix the tire. The truck came and put on the spare and while we were waiting a second tire went flat. And the a third tire went flat. We must have driven through a bunch of nails because all 3 tires had nails in them.

We had to wait for a second tow truck to come and get the car to take it back to the rental company at the Austin Airport. Fortunatly we had purchased the road hazard coverage so the tires were covered by that.

That was just the beginning of our nightmare. The next day, the day we were supposed to leave on our return trip, we contacted the rental company and they said they could not bring us a new car. That we would have to come to them. After a bit of arguing they agreed to send an uber to bring us to the airport. So my wife went and picked up a Toyota Tacoma Pickup.

We loaded it up and said our goodbye’s, hopped in the truck and it would not start. After a couple of tries it finally started, but the engine warning light was on. We again called the rental company and told them what was happening. They told us that we could get a different car but we had to drive to their offic in Dallas, three hours north. When we started out the cruize control would not work either.

But wait it gets worse! We went to the address of the rental company and they were gone! There was a auto service center there and they told us that they had moved to a different office. They gave us the address and we went to the new office. When we got there they told us they didn’t have a car but would have one in a couple of ours. Then they told us we could go to the airport and could pick one up there.

We drove to the airport and waited in line for about a half an hour. They told us we were at the wrong airport and had to go to the other airport. So we drove across the Dallas Fort Worth area to their other airport. We finally got a new car, a Dodge Mini Van, and we were finally on our way back home. The rest of the trip went well.

The day after we got home we went to drop off the vehicle and explained everything that happened. They appologized profusely and told us we would get our full deposit back.

If you think that was the end of our nightmare you would be wrong. A couple of weeks later we got a bill in the mail for several hundred dollars saying that we were responsible for repairs on their Toyota Truck! They claimed that we had broken something under the hood. We never opened the hood! That truck was broken when we got it. After several back and forth arguments and a threat to get our attorney involved they finally dropped thier claim against us.

Needless to say, I will never use that rental service again. I have intentionally not revealed the name of the company because I don’t want to give them any ammunition to come after me again.

On a positive note, we had a great time visiting with our daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. We were there for five days and enjoyed our visit.

Tornado Traffic Has Games

Word Search Game

First we have the Word Search Game that is common to almost all LFMTE traffic exchanges. As you surf you find letters until you finish the word or phrase, then you win a prize. Your progress is displayed in the lower right corner of the surf screen.

Viral Traffic Games

This is my favorite TE game. You have a character that can collect items and do battle with other players to win prizes. VTG also has weekly contests. The best part is every time you play the game you will win credits, banners or text ads at the TE where you are playing. To play just click the icon that appears in the surf bar.

VTG also offers advertising that displays at more that 380 TE’s and mailers.

The Food Game

This is a fun game you can play while surfing at Tornado Traffic or your other favorite traffic exchanges. The game is to cook dishes with the ingredients you have collected while surfing. There are a total of over 120 recipes you can learn how to cook. When you cook a recipe, you will earn points. The people with the most points at the end of the week will earn a Prize. The Food Game icon will appear in the surf bar every 25 pages surfed.

Lost in Ad Spaces Helmet Passes

This is our newest game. Every 20 pages the Helmet Pass icon will appear in the surf bar. Click on the icon to open the game page and win your pass. The more Helmet Passes you collect during the week the bigger your chances to walk away with 1 of 20 cash prizes. To qualify for the weekly cash prizes you must surf a minimum of 100 page at Lost in Ad Spaces.

Remember My Site

This game will come up occasionally while surfing, and ask you to select the previous site that was shown. If you answer correctly, you will win a prize.

Marketing with Safelists

Hello Fellow Marketers

I want to share with you some tips and tricks that I use to market effectively with safelists and viral mailers.

A lot of people think that safelist advertising is a waste of time, but I think it is because they don’t know how to use them effectively. I use safelists all the time and get good results with them.

The most important thing to remember is what kind of safelist to use. The best safelists are credit based lists. With this type of list you click on a link in the email to collect points so you can send out your email to the safelist. If the safelist allows you to use html code, use it. You only have seconds to catch their attention.

Make your email subject line stand out from the crowd. Add symbols before and after your title.

Examples:

***Incredibly Enticing Title!!***

This brings me to my next point. Offer them what they are looking for MORE FREE ADVERTISING. Don’t waste your time trying to sell them a product.

I would also keep your ad copy extremely brief. Remember the main reason the reader opens your email is to get the points so they can send you an email. Just dangle a carrot in front of their nose and lead them to your website.

If the person reading your email has their interest peaked they are more likely to look at what you have to offer. DO NOT OFFER TO MUCH INFORMATION. Keep them wondering “Hmmm, what is this?”.

Another extremely important thing to remember is the link that you use in your safelist email. Link to a splash page or a squeeze page. DO NOT send them to your full website!! They probably won’t read it. They are only collecting points. If the splash or squeeze page is of interest to them they may move to your website. The best advise I can give you is to move the prospect from the safelist to your own personal list.

Safelist marketing will work if you remember what it is all about. Think about your own behavior when you are clicking for credits.

I would also like to say a few words about the email server you use for your safelist mails. DO NOT USE YOUR PRIMARY EMAIL ACCOUNT!!! Your inbox will be inundated with emails from the list.

I use Gmail, which is also what most of the safelists recommend as well. I have 2 gmail accounts set up specifically for safelists. One for the list emails and another one for the admin emails.

I like Gmail because I can set up filters and folders for each safelist I belong too.

How I Write An Article or Blog Post

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to write about how I write an article or a blog post.

First of all, I have to admit that I used to be a cut and paste kind of blog poster. I would look for information on programs or topics that I was promoting or interested in. Then I would cut and paste a blog post together with a few of my own words mixed in.

That was before I learned about the power of using your own words and perspective. Jon and Blain of Click Track Profit have taught me the power and value of using MY perspective. How I go about writing articles and blog posts now, is to write about my own experience with the concept or program that I want to spotlight.

I find that, for me, the best way to do that is to open up a notepad and just start typing. The ideas and the words just come to me as I write.
This article is a great example of that. I had a general idea of what I wanted to say, but I had no idea of what I was going to write.

When I first started blogging it was awkward and clumsy, with lost of rewriting and editing. But, the more I do it the easier and more enjoyable it becomes.

So here is what I suggest you do. Pick a subject you are interested in. Open up a notepad. Start typing. Once you have your ideas typed in front of you edit to your taste and style.

If you need a place to publish your posts, you could start a WordPress Blog or I would suggest you join The Hive Blockchain and CTPTalk.
