“Content marketing is the strategic marketing approach of creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and acquire a clearly defined audience – with the objective of driving profitable customer action.
In short, instead of pitching your products or services, you are delivering information that makes your buyer more intelligent. The essence of this content strategy is the belief that if we, as businesses, deliver consistent, ongoing valuable information to buyers, they ultimately reward us with their business and loyalty.” The Content Marketing Institute
A Simple Strategy for Content Marketing that Anyone can Follow
Give them the information they are looking for!
The consumer has changed. They seek out information and do research before spending a dime. The creator economy has seen to that. The objective with content marketing is to provide valuable and relevant information to your target audience to help them reach a purchase decision.
The more valuable the content, the greater chance they will share it with their social media contacts. This furthers your reach and potential. Imagine. Your followers will do the marketing for you. In other words, traffic begins to come to you in an organic way. Why? Because you have taken the time to get to know your audience and are feeding them meaningful content in a timely and consistent manner. The act of sharing results in what is known as inbound traffic creation.
Timely and Consistency are two extremely important aspects of the content marketing process.
The Content Creation Calendar
If your intent is to curate content as part of your online marketing efforts you will need to get organized.
“A content calendar (also known as an “editorial calendar”) is a written schedule of when and where you plan to publish upcoming content. Content calendars typically include upcoming pieces, status updates, planned promotional activity, partnerships, and updates to existing content.” https://backlinko.com/hub/content/calendar
Your calendar is not that complicated. The calendar on your computer or device will suffice.
A Few Additional Thoughts on Content Marketing
Every piece of content you publish or share online must be done with purpose. This content must help your readers and subscribers, answer a question, satisfy a want or help quench a thirst for information. As content marketer(s) your objective is to earn trust and become the thought leader in your chosen field by providing this valuable content.
Once you start feeding your audience the information that they truly desire… you better keep feeding them! Because if you don’t or you stop posting on a regular basis, they will look somewhere else for what they seek.
The overall goal is to have fun. If you are not having fun… well that is my topic for my next post.

We understood the keys to success early on in our career was not the number of sales, it was the size of our prospecting list. The result? We have earned a full time income(s) since year one.
