There is scarcely a culture in the world that doesn\u2019t regard the idea of selling as a little icky. But in truth, we are\u00a0<em>all<\/em>\u00a0practicing that four-letter word\u2014in every area of our lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <em>In very small businesses, the owner and business are one and the same. When you&#8217;re marketing your business, you&#8217;re really marketing yourself &#8211; but that isn&#8217;t easy for everyone. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.pexels.com\/photos\/3627937\/pexels-photo-3627937.jpeg?auto=compress&amp;cs=tinysrgb&amp;dpr=1&amp;w=500\" alt=\"A Writing On The Wall\" width=\"379\" height=\"506\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Here&#8217;s advice for getting better at selling yourself and your business.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Start with WHO not WHY<\/strong>. <strong><em>Your\u00a0<\/em>why is not necessarily\u00a0<em>my<\/em>\u00a0why<\/strong>. Start the conversation where they are, with what\u00a0<em>they<\/em>\u00a0believe or wish to achieve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Selling is a listening skill.<\/strong> People will actually tell you how to influence them\u2014by telling you who they are and what they want the world to know them as.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Be Yourself <\/strong>because it is who you are. You can&#8217;t be me and vise versa. There are wonderful things about you so utilize them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Be Persistent<\/strong>. Your job is to be persistent\u2014even kind of annoying. Keep sending them e-mails, keep sending the texts, keep calling them. Let them know when something changes that is valuable to them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just keep in contact with them. Even if they\u2019re not ready to buy now, they\u2019ll think of you later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tse1.mm.bing.net\/th?id=OIP.tnvF9SQz9ZrZgXO5aLuehwHaEK&amp;pid=Api&amp;P=0&amp;w=303&amp;h=171\" alt=\"\" width=\"362\" height=\"204\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Offer a Solution.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your customers are plenty smart enough to identify the problems. What they need is for somebody to dig into the details and offer a solution. Not something that MIGHT work; something that WILL work. Offer more of a solution than your competition.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<strong>Stop with the Resume Speak<\/strong>. I&#8217;m a go-getter. problem solver, attention to detail kind of person. Your customer wants specifics. Who have you worked with that had problems like theirs and how did you solve them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00a0Be Positive.<\/strong> Find ways to find the positive. Smile a lot, be thankful for what you have, talk about things you enjoy, tell your customer that everything is going to be alright. Positivity equals confidence.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tse3.mm.bing.net\/th?id=OIP.e325N1J_vJvevVn8xnlBtgHaEK&amp;pid=Api&amp;P=0&amp;w=321&amp;h=181\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"237\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This is my <strong>FAVORITE<\/strong>. <strong>Be easy to agree with.<\/strong> Our capacity to sell\u2014or engage, influence or persuade\u2014defines our success in our business lives, our personal relationships and even our own self-awareness and effectiveness.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You don&#8217;t have to argue, make a stand in concrete or drive the point home in a unprofessional way.
