Businesses are trying to grab people&#8217;s attention via television, radio, billboards, subway signs, social media ads and text messages. One trick to ensure you don&#8217;t become part of the noise is to introduce yourself to a customer in an engaging and earnest manner. How you introduce yourself will depend on the situation and your role in the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What makes a good first line?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first line of a story should&nbsp;<strong>create a sense of character, conflict, setting, mood, theme, or style<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 or any combination thereof. Most importantly, it should make the reader ask questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tailor your greeting to the industry and situation. Make your first line about them. Explain why you&#8217;re reaching out. Provide value for them. Include a call-to-action. ( This step is vital so don&#8217;t forget to put it in. ) Say &#8220;thanks&#8221; and sign off. Follow up with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sounds so simple, DOESN&#8217;T IT?  For most, this is a scary process but it doesn&#8217;t have to be.
